SPOTLIGHT on Playful Art with Doron Hirsch

Facilitation Spotlight is a focussed co-created event, introducing an interesting topic and a professional followed by a discussion between participants.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The talk covers different experimental approaches to UGC from various games and interactive media. Showing beautiful and funny outcomes that occur when giving players the freedom to be co-creators of the game's environment, that in turn impact the game’s evolution as well as the experience of other players. It will end with things to consider when embarking on a UGC path and lessons I learned (and am still learning) from the development process of 'MiSH MASH'.

ABOUT DORON:

Doron Hirsch is an installation artist and game designer based in Amsterdam. He is the co-founder Kwa Qua Games, an award winning independent game studio dedicated to designing interactive playful platforms. His background is rooted in traditional theatre, later moving on to interactive installations and digital frameworks. His work explores innovative ways to trigger players imagination and how the combination of art and play can bring people closer to one another.   His current project MiSH MASH is a collaborative game that brings people together for the creation of BIG and surprising surrealistic drawings. It was exhibited worldwide in various events including: The Zürich Design Biennale, Kaboom animation Festival, European Game Showcase (GDC) and the dutch Pavilion at Gamescom & Tokyo Game Show.
